Websites and RSS

These days internet is a useful tool. Websites are so user friendly and so well made (well at least some of them). This we2.0 technology brings some lovely features, some useful features and some strange ones. I have a problem with this RSS, actually not with him but with the idea that I will not visit websites anymore because of this 2.0 feature. So why we design with so much details, why we care that much about the colors or about the domain name, when at the end we add a RSS button in a corner, with orange if is possible and with specific icon and from there lot’s of people will never visit your site after they find the happy RSS button. Of curse that not every website has RSS, of course not every website need such a thing even if we force this feature and we put it everywhere.
But still for me this question remains, because I had like 37 websites that I use to visit but since Google Reader came in I quit to visit them and start browsing a single page that looks like crap but where I find all I want to know. So what is the future regarding websites ( mostly content oriented)? Google Reader is eating all the websites overall? Did we married with Google Reader or any other reader?
I’m thankful for the nifty Next button in Google Reader… this way I can visit the sites “in person” while taking advantage of RSS and Google Reader.
You can find the Next button by going to Manage Subscription and then GOODIES. You’ll see the NEXT button a little way down the screen. It’s life changing
…not really…but it’s time saving
Next item or post in GR is also pressing “space” key . Also Google reader had lot’s of keyboard shortcuts.
The Feeds are useful as long as they are reminding you to visit those 10, 100 or 1000 websites you want to keep an eye on. It’s like a Ping to you every time news come up.
I want to say you are right, but unfortunetly I didn’t visit any of my websites that I had in GR. And some of them changed the design for the second time. I just care about the content that comes entirely in GR. Dou you visit them?
